Budokon ~ Animal Locomotion

Animal Locomotion

Animal locomotion matters because humans evolved from quadrupeds. Changing the number of limbs used for locomotion can therefore result in a change in anatomy and may help people with spinal irregularities, movement disabilities and can recalibrate the physical architecture.

Integrated movement balances the relationship between the pelvic girdle and the shoulder girdle, creating new neurological pathways and thereby improving the relationship between the right and the left brain.

The focus here is mobility and strength, as many of these patterns require weight distribution into the upper trunk at varying ranges of movement. This is a unique and interesting way to experience the human body, and connect with our evolutionary ancestry.

ABOUT BUDOKON

Budokon is a globally renowned mixed movement and living arts system.

To translate: Bu - warrior ; Do - way ; Kon - Spirit, warrior way spirit.

In other words : “The way of the warrior spirit”

This name was chosen to represent a person living a WAY for the betterment of all humanity achieved through the SPIRIT of unwavering virtue and defended by the WARRIOR’s service, protection, and courage.

Budokon is an integral approach to the study of the universe and our relationship within it through the study of the Yogic, Martial, and Living arts. Budokon has a six pillar system which makes a body of science and philosophy used as a method to provide a practical means of realizing the highest ideals in daily living. Rather than separating different areas of human knowledge Budokon integrates them together. Budokon studies the tree of life as a whole rather than limiting itself to one branch. This tree is a great organization of diverse elements yoked together by the unifying natural law. Budokon seeks to understand this law and teach its principles.

What we offer lie in the the following key areas:

  • Movement Intelligence - How to move in a dynamic & fully expressed way.

  • Breath Intelligence - How to regulate energy and consciousness.

  • Zen mind - Observation of sensation & the states of mind we occupy.

  • Mind Science - Self-observation, critical thinking and self-adjustment.

There are four different Budokon workshops over the weekend Fri May 27 - Sun May 29 — see them all here!
