“Lila” Retreat in Costa Rica

Join me on a trip of a lifetime to the breathtaking country of Costa Rica. I created this retreat in the light of Lila. Lila is the sanskrit term for divine play or purposeless purpose. The concept of lila is a natural outflow of spontaneous play with the Divine. It is meant to emphasize the role of the delights and joys of being a human being or a divine creation of nature. This retreat will be all about love, laughter, play, relaxation, nature, and surrender to the Pura Vida, “pure life”, lifestyle.

We’ll begin our adventure in La Fortuna, the town located at the base of Costa Rica’s most active volcano, Arenal. There students will have the opportunity to rappel down Arenals majestic waterfalls and whitewater raft. After our adventurous day we’ll head back to Arenal Springs Resort and Spa to relax and unwind in the natural hot springs generated by the volcano. Arenal is most famous for its healing and luxurious hot springs and we are lucky enough to get two full nights to soak in them! There will be an opportunity to hike down into the La Fortuna Waterfalls to swim in the pools beneath after we enjoy a class on the deck overlooking the falls.

After a morning of yoga we’ll head to the Guanacaste Coast to visit Samara and Carillo. The beautiful curved bay of light gray sand and gentle waters of Playa Samara has attracted vacationing Ticos and foreigners for years. Playa Carrillo, located just south of Samara, is one of the prettiest beaches and best kept secrets in Costa Rica. These two gems combine for a paradisiacal off-the-beaten-path beach destination, unlike any other in Costa Rica! Here you’ll have options to work out with Bean and/or flow with Heather in the mornings before a day of free time at the beach or shopping in town. There will also be an opportunity to take a Stand Up Paddleboard tour.

From the beach we head to the Cloud Forest, Monteverde. Monteverde is a unique ecosystem found nowhere else in the world, being the corridor for combining wild life from both North and South America. Shrouded with dense clouds, the forests of Monteverde are always moist, green and full of life. It is also home to the best canopy tours in Costa Rica. Here we’ll soar above the trees and spike our adrenaline at the Selvatura Park on Ziplines! Monteverde is best known for its cheese, coffee, and chocolate so we encourage a trip into town to taste the local faire.

From Monteverde we’ll head to our final destination, the Lost Altos Resort in Manuel Antonio. Manuel Antonio is home to some of the most beautiful, palm-studded beaches in Costa Rica and an abundance of wildlife in the national park including 4 species of monkeys. This area is where the jungle meets the ocean. We’ll finish out our trip with exercise and Yoga every day on a deck that overlooks the ocean. You’ll have plenty of free time to lounge on the pristine beaches, shop in town, and will also have an opportunity to explore one of the largest nature reserves in the country.

Do yourself a favor and come play with us in the name of Lila. You will return from this trip grounded, relaxed, and blissfully content.
